Cars in Lagos Life

No job needs a car, and a danfo gets you everywhere. So is a car worth it? Here's every model, what it costs to run and when it makes sense.

Do you need a car?

No. Danfo is the cheapest way around and works for every job. The catch is that each danfo ride costs you a little hygiene and fun, and traffic eats time. A cab is reportedly around ₦100 a ride. Players say an okada is just as fast as a car.

A car saves those needs, looks good, and swaps the fare for fuel. For most new players, it's a flex, not a must.

Every car and what it costs

These prices were compiled by players in launch week and the game is patched often. Each car shows its current price in the game before you pay.

How fuel works

  • You pay fuel per trip instead of a fare. Longer trips cost more.
  • Traffic burns fuel. A go-slow costs you whether you're in a car or a danfo, just in different ways.
  • A driver removes the fuel bill. Hire one as staff and trips get quicker and fuel-free, but their wage comes out every Saturday with your rent.

Buying and selling

Buy from the Cars app on your in-game phone. You can browse and test drive at Polanco Motors on Victoria Island first. If you sell, players report you get back about 60% of what you paid, so treat a car as spending, not saving.

Our advice

  • Buy businesses first. A ₦900,000 Corolla is six Recharge Kiosks that would pay you every day. See which business to buy first.
  • If you want wheels early, the Bajaj Boxer is cheap to buy and to run.
  • Nepo Babies already have one. Daddy's Prado comes with the start, so don't buy another.
