How to avoid Lagos Life scams

The game itself is free and fictional. The risks are around it: millions of new players attract scammers fast.

The five rules

  1. There is no Lagos Life app to download. It isn't on Google Play or the App Store, and there's no official APK. Any "Lagos Life APK" file is suspect.
  2. Game money can't be cashed out. You can buy in-game naira, but it has no real-world value. Anyone offering to buy or sell it for real money is selling nothing.
  3. Watch out for look-alike sites. Play only at the address the developer uses. Never enter payment details or your game login on a guide site, including this one. We'll never ask.
  4. Ignore Lagos Life crypto tokens. Tokens using the name have been hyped online, with no announcement from the developer linking any token to the game.
  5. Be careful in chat. You're talking to real strangers. Keep personal details private.

"Abeg send me ₦5k"

Players can send each other naira, so begging messages are constant. You can send money, but you don't have to. You are not the Central Bank of Lagos Life.

What happened with the hacked money?

In the first week, an exploit let some players create huge fake balances. The developer wiped the fake funds, restored legitimate balances and promised fixes, including adding income tax. If someone shows you a giant balance and offers a "deal", walk away.
