Skills and needs in Lagos Life
Skills decide how far your career goes. Your six needs decide how well you work on the day. Get both right and promotions come fast.
What each skill unlocks
Players count nine skills. These are the eight that guides agree on.
| Skill | Used for | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Charisma | Real Estate, Product Management, Content Creator, banking | Opens three of the six best-paid careers |
| Music | Music at New Afrika Shrine, DJ work at Quilox | Best single shift in the game |
| Comedy | Broadcasting, paid skits | Paid skits reportedly open at level 3 |
| Fitness | Aviation, nursing, fitness coaching | Aviation reportedly needs level 3 to get in |
| Coding | Tech work at CcHub, freelance gigs, hackathons | Freelance gigs at level 2, hackathons at level 3 |
| Photography | Creator work, photo sales | Paid beach photoshoots at Elegushi from level 4 |
| Hustle | Trading at Balogun, hairstyling, event planning | Players say LAPO Babies start at level 2 |
| Cooking | Chef work at Amala Shitta, buka help | Buka help needs no level and pays early |
These figures are player-reported, not official. The game is patched often, so treat them as a starting point.
How promotions work
- You need the skill and a good shift. Players report that a promotion needs the named skill at the right level and a full-performance shift, on the same day.
- Train for your next step, not everything. Spend spare hours on the one skill your next promotion names. Short sessions fit around shifts better.
- Harder starts learn faster. LAPO Babies and UNILAG Freshers train every skill 25% faster.
- Charisma keeps doors open. If you're unsure which career you want, it's the safest skill to build first.
The six needs
| Need | Drops fastest when | Refill it with |
|---|---|---|
| Hunger | Long shifts, travel and training | Buka meals, Amala Shitta, cooking at home |
| Energy | Working shifts | Eating and rest. Players say only food restores shift energy. |
| Hygiene | Work days, travel and market runs | Washing at home. Better housing helps. |
| Bladder | Long stretches without a break | A bathroom break before shifts and trips |
| Fun | All work and no nights out | Quilox, the Shrine, the beach, parties |
| Social | Grinding alone | Chatting with colleagues and other players |
Why needs matter
Low bars going into a shift drag your performance down, and a weak shift can cost you a promotion. Before each shift, eat, take a bathroom break and make sure you're not exhausted. It takes a minute and protects your pay.
